    It does depend entirely upon how complex the services you are using or
offering are.   I'm willing to bet that the IIS3 machine does not host web
sites for your customers and is configured as a 'four-banger calculator' ;
no active content which makes it secure and long-lived after a few
modifications.  If you host .NET web sites for your customers, it becomes
much more difficult to secure for the long term because the interaction
with a .NET server is harder to monitor and patch for security issues for
example.

  That's a good position to be in; most people cannot invest the time to
plan and evaluate their options and just pursue the path of least
resistance.  They may well wake up some morning with their nuts in a vice.
