 Do you have any contacts in the health care profession that might be
able to set things to rights? Or make things better?

I've had a long time suspsicion many 'do good' groups do only 'just
enough' :( to make themselves look 'good' and some make big money at
it (donations) they don't spend nealy enouigh to help those the money
is for. It's the way it is everywhere. Seeking alternate resouces is
what is said to be the best resolve.

 Do you have internet access? Seek out a support group. They're all
facing the same problem you are and may be able to help.
