MACHHOLZ DISCOVERS HIS 10TH COMET

Veteran observer Donald E. Machholz of Colfax, California, has discovered
a telescopic comet in the constellation Eridanus. Although currently
heading south, it will be well positioned for Northern Hemisphere
observers by year's end.

TAKE A MOON WALK

These evenings the Moon rises well before midnight even though its phase
is approaching last quarter. Take this opportunity to explore some of the
features on the western half of the Moon and watch familiar landmarks on
the Moon's eastern side disappear at lunar sunset.
