Here they assume "distributed loading" on each run.

For example the rulings up to about 1970 (they may have changed
since then but I've been out of touch) allowed a circuit fused at
15 amps to have up to 15 10-amp outlets in a domestic situation,
but only three in an industrial situation.

Another strange thing was that dual or 4-way outlets counted as a
single for domestic, but duals counted as two for industrial, and
4-way ones were of course forbidden.

I'm not sure what the ruling is these days. I believe it is
different for circuits using breakers instead of fuses.

    The simple realization that there are other points of view is
    the beginning of wisdom.  Understanding what they are is a
    great step.  The final test is understanding why they are held.
