Indeed. And that is one of the simplest uses for macros. Edit macros
(not compile macros) are short programs that automate some of the
work for you.

An inexpensive text ($20) that I have read one chapter comes highly
reccomended by collegues of mine. "C++ From The Ground Up." I can't
remember the author. It is clear, concise, really well written. I
don't know if it will address your above issues, but you can learn a
lot from it. I borrowed it to read up on 'overloading operators.'
Don't ignore the Borland 'users guide.' It is a very readable text.
