It should not cause any problems at all. If you get it wrong all
that should happen is you get no output or you get hum or noise
at the output.

But check the connector. Sometimes you can get at the little clip
that holds the connection into the housing and swap it to the
hole where it should be for the new configuration.

Or go to your local secondhand computer retailer and you'll
probably get the correct cable pretty cheaply.

Nope, I'm not up with them sufficiently to help there.
