Hi Rod,
Just sticking my nose in here to correct something.

You are quite right in that the money doesn't equal education but
the point you are missing is that the students on Abstudy are recieving
more money that the students on Ausstudy. It is not about how much or how
long it takes to educate either skin colour, it is about why do the abstudy
recipients qualify for more money? Does it cost them more to go to school,
after recieving gov't grants? Does it cost them more for scholastic
materials, after being given some for free? Does it cost them more to
travel to school, after reccieving free bus tickets?
This is the point that interests me.
Before you go off at me Dianne, should you find this one, the above
are facts from a friend of mine who is going through uni and is black as
the ace of spades. All the above things are things he recieves and only
some of them are available to the white students.
If our coloured community want equality then they must accept
equality right across the board. No extra money for them just because they
are coloured etc. untill that time I will continue to think that in some
ways they are not disadvantaged but are privileged above what I could
recieve.
        See you later,
                        Jeff.
