WIN95 and QUICKEN 5
I use two QDF's: Personal and Business.
Goal: Develop an icon which activates QUICKEN 5 and the desired file
from the Windows 95 desktop.
When using "My Briefcase" in WIN95, I copied the Quicken Data File
(which has a green "$" as part of the icon, from my QUICKENW directory
to the MYBRIEF~ directory. When I click on this icon from My
Briefcase, that file becomes the active file and Quicken 5 is started.
The problem is that when I made changes to this file and then
synchronized the file between My Briefcase and the QUICKENW QDF file,
the stock price updates in Portfolio were omitted from the updated
(synchronized) files.
It appears that the convenience of keeping a QDF in My Briefcase is a
bit dangerous--because the synchronization involves more files that the
one QDF file.
This is, in my opinion, a bug or incompatibility of Quicken 5 with
Windows 95 in the utilization of the My Briefcase for frequently used
files.
Does anyone have a suggestion which would allow me to activate either
my Personal or my Business file from the Desktop without first going
through the step of activating Quicken 5 and then selecting the
specific file?
