Hello Jim,
I have to admit...I don't follow your message completely, but I'll see
if I can explain some things, and then follow up on any questions you
have.
The first part of your message above sounds as if you are talking about
printing a file.
The printing options are controlled from the Print Menu - Set Options
Submenu.
The Left margin determines how many spaces will be inserted to the
left of a line when it is printed.
The Right margin determines where the line will be *truncated*, if
the line is longer than will fit on the page.
The second half of your message sounds as if you are talking about
writing / creating a file. The options for handling the creation of a
file with are set on the _Options_ menu:
The Right margin determines where a line is wrapped when the cursor
crosses this margin. It is also used to re-wrap text when you use
    the Wrap Paragraph command.
The Left margin determines where to place the cursor when the
key is pressed, and AutoIndent is set to either ON or OFF.
AutoIndent is used to determine if the editor automatically places
the cursor at a specified tab stop when you press .
WordWrap determines if the editor wraps to the next line of a file
when you type a space past the right margin in a file.
The settings on the Options menu and Print menu function independently
of each other.
I hope this helps.
                           George J. De Bruin
