Hello Maurice. 10 Jun 05 12:22, you wrote to me: RT>>>> Grolsh maybe .... MK>>> That sounds vaugely familiar. Could very well be. RT>> In a green bottle ... MK> Right! I am positive you nailed it! Is it Dutch? Cannot say currently, long time since I had one of those, it is an "import" here, Dutch possible, German maybe, but I don't think so, Norwegian maybe. Have a vague impression that origin is northwestern Europe. From memory it is a pleasant beer, but nothing to get excited about, and too darn expensive, on the odd occasion I buy some beer these days, I prefer Windhoek Export either a larger or pilsner, brewed in the German tradition. Brewed in Namibia of all places. The beer produced by the local South African Brewries, leaves a bloke with a "funny" aftertaste, and a weird hangover if you drink too many, also it takes longer to recover from drinking similar amount of beer. A mate of mine is convinced they use some "chemical" to hasten/shorten the brewing process, and this contaminates what is essentially a very good beer. Something that does not happen with Nambian Brewries products. If I figure I am in for a long beer drinking session and Millers Genuine Draught is available, I stick to it, as it is one of the lighter beers around, and does not get/taste bitter after the 4-5th bottle, but drinking 3-4 Windhoek's is preferable.
