1.) ZyXEL Prestige firmware v1.4 is released

We released the new firmware version v1.4 for the ZyXEL "Prestige"
ISDN LAN Remote Access Routers. You can download the firmware files
from following locations:

2.) updated CAPI drivers for ZyXEL ISDN terminal adapter

there are available updated versions of ZyXEL's CAPI driver for
all the ZyXEL ISDN terminal adapters (Elite 2864I, Omni TA128 and
omni.net) on our ftp server now. You will find then in following

3.) updated ZyXEL Internet Configuration Manager for Windows

5.) ZyXEL News Server

Because many of our customers requested to have any possibility to
work with news readers instead of mailing lists, we now can offer
you a solution which might sattisfy all of you who want to get in
contact with any ZyXEL partner or representative:
Our ZyXEL distribution partner in Denmark setup a public news server
for all ZyXEL customers. We linked all our existing public mailing
lists to this news server so that you can either take part in
discussions on the mailing lists or by use of any news reader:

    currently there are available following newsgroups:
         zyx-user.modem
         zyx-user.isdn
         zyx-user.lan
         zyx-user.mailinglist.zyxel-info
         zyx-user.mailinglist.zyxel-users
         zyx-user.mailinglist.prestige-users
         zyx-user.mailinglist.capi-users
note: the gateing of the mailing lists is currently available in a
      "one-way" direction, so from the mailing lists to the newsgroups.
      I you are using any newsreader and you want to reply to any
      message in those gated mailing lists, please use the "reply-to-
      author" feature of your newsreader. Do not "reply-to-newsgroup"
      because then the message will not be sent back to mailing list.
      We will work on haveing a "two-way" gate for this purpose in the
      near future.
If requested we could add some more newsgroups or split some of them
to more specific groups. (there exist already some ideas of you to have
some newsgroups with different languages - we will think about it..)

6.) status on ZyXEL and 56K modem technology
=====================================================================
Actually we never stop working on 56K upgrade. Since the ITU standard
is coming near, we decide to directly follow the ITU standard several
months ago. Now the ITU institute says that they will announce the
final standard version around 98' Q1. Our plan is to release the
firmware one month after the standard finalization. Beta release will
be conducted before the formal release.
