Yeah; red-tails have real nests that could get messy after a decade.
It's a bit easier with all the peregrine nests, which people often
clean up after the breeding season's over. They're happy with a 2x4
frame and a bed of pea gravel.  Luxury would add a simple plywood
lean-to to shield the chicks from the weather.  You can clean it
up in half an hour or so, especially if there's a water faucet on
your roof.  But red-tails like a nest of sticks, and that can get
somewhat messy.

I wonder if there's a how-to guide somewhere for attracting red-tails
(or other hawks) to your roof, with suggestions for keeping it clean.
