Mulling over George Pope to Steve Asher 08 Oct 2003 Hi George! SA> Apart from a non-geographic phone number, there is very little SA> on the Goldshield Investigations site to work with. They certainly SA> purport to supply quite a bit of info about individuals, phone SA> numbers, addresses & the like, but obscure much of their own SA> identifying info. (snip) GP> Information is readily available to those with the know-how -- GP> ferinstance, I've discovered a way to create a list of unlisted GP> numbers, with names & addresses, all using publically available GP> information! (at least for here in Vancouver, BC, Canada) and I'm GP> sure if it was so easy for ME, who's not in any business that would GP> have a vested interest in having such a database, there are others GP> who can &/or have done it! :( I can't think of a public document offhand that would link unlisted numbers to names & addresses. A good starting point is the electoral roll, which contains the names & addresses of the majority of people registered to vote (which is mandatory here). Some names are "suppressed" & do not appear, but this privilege is not available to the majority, whose names & addresses are there for the taking. Other sources are the lands titles, which tie names of owners to properties; the National Meter Identifier (NMI), which ties a property to an electricity meter, & is being used increasingly & surreptitiously to link names & addresses. Check your electricity bill to see if it has NMI 1234567890 somewhere on it. Not a public document or identifier, but available to those with access. Anyone conducting a raffle in the local mall is more than likely to be collecting names & phone numbers of entrants, for later harvesting. Slight change of theme.... From Canada.Com technology section is a story on clubs & bars in Vancouver forming "Barwatch", which will compel patrons to swipe their drivers licences & be photographed as they enter, in order to keep out troublemakers, help to identify people spiking drinks, etc. Naturally, the licence & photo details will be kept private & confidential, until it is sub-poenaed by a spouse, insurance company, employer etc seeking to prove that X was in the bar, instead of at work or wherever.
