Hi! All,

I am having continual problems with one echo, where news readers (two local &
one remote) are losing track of messages. The headers & texts are going out of
synch. Even newly tossed posts are not showing up during scans for new mail.

My daily maintenance does not do a renumber but it does cull out messages based
on a 'top number' for each echo. With tomorrow's maint, I've reset the _one_
echo having trouble to be based on date instead. Culling will be older than
six months rather than 6000 messages. But that's tomorrow. So, I won't find
out till tomorrow whether that will fix that echo or not.

If I've turned up a bug of some sort, runnning a combination of FastEcho &
JamNNTPd, then I may have to switch to plan 'B'. I have an alternative server
running Crashmail II & JamNNTPd that might have to be promoted to a
nodelisting, as a fix for the possible buggy situation. But that's extreme
since I know that CM also culls by 'top number' or date.

So, I was wondering if anyone else does a routine purge or cull of their
messagebase?

Cheers,
Paul.
