Is there such a thing as true love? I have a friend in real life, her =
name is Lois. She has a brother who is mentally handicapped. When I =
would visit Lois and her family Marty would always hug me and tell me he =
loved me. One day I asked him, Marty, would you still love me if I told =
you I was fat, skinny, obese, anorexic,  black, brown, red, yellow, =
white, blue, purple, mean, nasty, ugly, pretty,cute,horrible, wicked, =
kind, male or female? Marty looked at me with a blank, strange, =
bewildered look upon his beautiful handsome face. He asked me what color =
was I and what color was he. He then asked about color. He then asked me =
what I thought skinny, fat, nasty, ugly, mean, wicked,good and kind =
were. He new the difference between man and woman but, he had no concept =
of different colored people or fat and skinny. He also had no concept of =
pretty or ugly. He told me, I love you because I know you love me. I =
feel the love you have for me. I can feel that and know that. I told him =
but, Marty I am not always a good nice, kind person. He looked at me =
again bewildered. He then told me that he is not always nice and good =
and do I still love him eventhough he is not sometimes bad and not nice. =
I told him, I love you even when your bad always have and always will. =
He then told me he loves me the same, even when i'm bad and not always =
nice. He then said, what does your color, the way you look have to do =
with love? It was at that very moment I realized something a thousand =
lights went on. Marty and all those in this world like him are NOT =
mentally handicapped. The rest of us ARE. Marty and those like him. Love =
unconditionally without question or prejudice. To me that is a genius. =
