Msged 4.20 will let you do this.  In fact, the following are the default
switch settings for version 4.20 with regards to the display of control
line information in the reader:

  Switch ShowNotes Off
  Switch ShowSeenbys Off
  Switch ShowOrigins On
  Switch ShowTearlines On

(Note that `Switch ShowSeenbys' is an alias for `Switch SEEN-BYs'.)

The Msged 4.20 "beta 2" DOS, OS/2 and Windows NT executables are
available for FREQ as a single archive from 3:635/728 as MSG42B2X.ZIP
(492K), and also available from ftp://ftp.zws.com:/pub/msged/ and
ftp://ftp.juge.com:/c/file/msged/.  I recommend anybody having problems
with Msged 4.10 upgrade to 4.20b2.  No supplemental documentation is
available yet; I haven't had time to write it.
