I got another one for you. If you install XP and SP2 then go to windows
update, one of the patches it downloads is titled KB887472 yet it's not
listed in the security bulletin search page
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx when you search for
fixes after XPsp2.

Then if you go to www.microsoft.com and search for kb887472 you get
*nothing* but if you go to the KB and search you get this
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;887472 which of
course points to KB890261 which is also known as MS05-009.

So what we have is WindowsUpdate installing K890261 but calling it KB887472.

and then when you go to download KB890261 for XPsp2 it takes you to a
ANOTHER page called KB887472 (which search FAILED to find) and a patch
file named WindowsXP-KB887472-x86-enu.exe.

My conclusion was that either they do this on purpose to make it all but
impossible to patch without using windows update or their whole security
management system is just one big disorganized mess being run by so many
different hands they can't get anything straight. I am so glad I'm not on
the windowsupdate team... those poor guys must not have any hair left.
