You'll probably need to go into the BIOS and turn OFF the onboard graphics.
BUT first, I'd reset to plain VGA so that you'll be able to SEE the
computer prior to installing the drivers for the new card.

It's also possible that the new card will be detected and configured as a
second monitor, that once those drivers are loaded (keep the monitor hooked
up to the original video port  at this point), then when the new card is
installed, then turn off the internal video in the Bios, and hopefully, the
new card will become the primary.

Never tried it, so that's a WAG..
