I fiddled with it a year ago or so, and also found no other way than to
edit the registry. I think that's not very good - I like that as a default
setting (to block executables), but I think it should be a bit easier for
users to switch it off. Messing with the registry can cause other problems
as well, and also once it's turned off it's a big step to go back in to the
registry and set the blocking back on, which would probably be much easier
if it was a setting somewhere in the UI.
