While writing to disk with an engraving tool, Phil went on about file format 
error to  All
 PM> I'm getting the following notation in my max.log:
 PM> "MAX  MEX:  file format error in  'm\headmsg.vm'"
Have you tried either recompiling them, or makeing a second installation of 
Max (Well away from your current installation), then movign the MEX files 
into place?
