The recent images of torture, abuse & snuff from Abu Ghraib
have shocked the civilised world, but apparently the US
President / Commander-in-Chief had no knowledge of them
prior to them being shown on telly, as below....

President Bush Meets with Alhurra Television on Wednesday
Interview of the President by ALhurra Television
The Map Room

Q When did you learn about the -- did you see the pictures on TV? When was
the first time you heard about --

THE PRESIDENT: Yes, the first time I saw or heard about pictures was on TV.
However, as you might remember, in early January, General Kimmitt talked
about a investigation that would be taking place about accused -- alleged
improprieties in the prison. So our government has been in the process of
investigating.

Apparently none of his subordinates / advisors thought to inform
him that they would be shown, were damaging to the image of the
USA that he was seeking to project abroad, and could incite Iraqi
groups to injure American hostages.

However, General Richard B Myers requested that CBS News hold off
broadcasting the story for two weeks, & CBS did so, because of
"the danger and tension on the ground in Iraq". Myers warned that
the story & images could incite Iraqi groups...

None of Bush's advisors & subordinates felt it necessary to have
a word in his shell-like during that two week delay that images
were about to be broadcast that would lose him the war.

Imagine that.

Cheers, Steve...
