Geo has said that if the WUS server is rooted, there is an increased risk
to WUS clients. This is rather a motherhood statement with no real content.
If my switch is rooted, there is an increased risk to all my clients. If
any server is rooted, there is an increased risk to all my clients.

If my ISP's network is rooted, when I download something from a web site
that I trust, my ISP might substitute a baby-eating program from hell.

Rich is saying that WUS files include a signature that is checked by the
client before installation. There is no known way of breaking this
procedure. It doesn't matter what servers are rooted, my WUS clients will
only install an update if it is UNCHANGED from how Microsoft signed it.
