ù Quoting Ron Taylor from a message to Ryan Bagueros ù
RT> If you are suggesting that the young black youth and his friends are
RT> conducting themselves in the same manner that I am and presenting a
RT> decent impression of themselves, damn right I deny that the police
RT> would treat them differently.
Well, then, this is where your ignorance comes into play. You are DAMN wrong
if
you think that a cop wouldn't look at young (poor) black youth differently
than
a middle-class white person, you are SADLY out of touch with what is going
on.
You can literally just about ask ANY black person if racism exists today in
the
criminal justice system and just about any will answer yes, because they KNOW
through their life experiences what racism is all about. Being white, it is
far
too easy to ignore it and pretend like it isn't there.
RT> If, however, the black youth and his friends are driving a vehicle
RT> with all the windows darkened, playing their "system" so loud that
RT> windows shake two blocks away, and do everything in their power to
RT> insult and intimidate the citizenry as well as the police, then yes,
Excuse me? You can take your citizenry and shove it where the sun doesn't
shine. If the hypothetical youth in question are playing their music within
legal limits, and have their windows tinted to the legal degree, then the cop
has NO right to harrass them. Black kids do not owe your middle-class
citizenry
jack sh*t, and trying to enforce racist aesthetics or "good taste" is pure
crap.
Wake up and welcome to America, buddy. Stick your head out of that
sitcom-addled suburban neighborhood of your's and find out what's really
happening, because you've shown that you have no idea.
