I remember seeing an ad in an old Popular Electronics quite a few years ago 
for an external Bearcat scanning rcvr that was controlled by computer 
(probably via a serial cable), and then I heard some 'flap' about how the 
unit had been banned from the market...  Did ANYone manage to get one of 
these units, or were they sidetracked before production ?  What were the 
particulars of the unit ?
It'd be interesting to see the schem for one of those...  ;-)
