CJ> Hi,
CJ>
CJ> Recently I installed the UltimediaMail package under OS/2 V.4-FP6.
CJ> I like it okay but I have some problems with it, and need
CJ> assistance.
CJ>
CJ> I installed TCP/IP support recently (after have stripped it off
CJ> because I didn't think I would ever use it). Here's the problems...
CJ>
CJ> 1) Lost icons somehow. I only have the information folder and
CJ> the file
CJ> cabinet icon the main folder. How can I re-create the original
ons?
Delete the icons which remain, and the folder. Reboot. From the
x:\tcpip\umail directory run makewps.cmd. Now you should have
a complete new UML folder.
CJ> 2) Incomming mail. Alway marked as "Undeliverable mail" for
CJ> ..........
CJ> Why is all my incomming mail marked as undeliverable and how do I get
CJ> rid of it. I don't have this problem under netscape's mail system or
CJ> PMMAIL. I would consider just using PMMAIL but it won't do a couple
CJ> of things I really like (automatically send/recieve qued mail upon
CJ> connect without starting mailer).
CJ>
CJ> 3) It forces me to type in my name upon each and every startup.
CJ> Isn't
CJ> there a way to have it enter my name automatically? It's really
CJ> annoying...
CJ>
CJ> I just about at the point where I think a full re-install of OS/2
CJ> might be in order, but I will lose a lot of stuff I can't replace
CJ> (no backup system) so I'm pushing that option to the very bottom of
CJ> the list.
Not necessary--at worst an uninstall and reinstall of tcpip--but you
should be able to fix up what you have.
CJ> Any help would be appreciated,
For more help, visit
http://www.cincyteamos2.org
and scroll down page 1 to Warp 4 Tips amd Tricks, and then to #42.
Next go to Reviews and Articles, #14, and check out the part about
editing the UMAIL.PRO, UMAILSRV.PRO, and CRJACKSON.ACC files.
In the TCPIP (LAN) notebook, on the MAIL p1, be sure Internet only
is checked. On MAIL p2, make sure Prompt for POP Information
Every Time is not checked. Some items on these pages may be filled
in already or may be blank--let them stay that way--same for
SENDMAIL pp1-2.
You should be up and running now. It's a pain, I know, but it runs
really well after the setup phase.
I've even gone so far as to write a rexx program to use the UML pieces
for an automatic mail fetch. One mouse click does it all-- dialup,
send, fetch, and shutdown. This allows me to check for mail several
times a day.
If you still have problems--repost them here.
Fred
