Didn't we all change over from 6 to 12 volt systems on our antiques? 
You gonna show this rig, or drive it? 
 
BTW: if you use a 5 amp diode in the hot wire from the brakelite 
switch, and another wire from a DPST dash/steering column switch, 
you can get turn signals on a rear light system with only two 
filiments.  the diode blocks the flow back from the turn sig sw 
so only that side gets momentarily lit -with full voltage, so 
somewhat brighter,  but remining on dimmer if the brake pedal is 
also being pushed.  oughtta work on 6 volt too.
