DG> Was Harry Caray being broadcast NATIONALLY during the 1967 series??
Because
DG> it's one thing if he's being biased on WGN, the Cubs home station, or
anoth
DG> team's home station.. Another thing altogether to be broadcast around the
DG> nation and be biased toward one team.. That is NOT cool.
As opposed to various and sundry celebrity persons going on national TV
many times a day, via a paid commercial, and giving biased statements for
a product? Is it REALLY more "cool" to see a female athlete advertise
feminine hygiene products, than to hear an announcer "gush" over the team
hat
is paying his salary?
*I* get irritated when the announcer for my favored team get
nthusiastic
about another team's play.... *MY* team is paying him, so he's darned well
better be supporting THEM, and commiserate with us fans over the other guys'
homers, or DPs...
If Harry, or any other announcer, has accepted a contract to announce a
series of games on a national feed, such as FoxSports, ESPN, etc. and he
shows favoritism to one of the two teams (neither of them his home team),
THAT is NOT desirable - but then Harry wouldn't have done that, nor any
broadcaster who deserves to hold a spot like that, whom I know of. Even
Charlie Jones is impartial on the ESPN Game of the Week when the Rockies
are involved.
