Err ... psychologists, neuroscientists and the like go for as many 
specialised nerve endings as can be reliably identified ... over 
30 different senses by now with the discovery of a third light- 
sensitive receptor in the eye and a curious bulb in the upper 
nose.

"Sometimes recognise", indeed !
