Hi Wanda,

Found the following in a Christmas Craft book I received last year for
marblizing paper.
Supplies:
Plastic table covering or newspapers
2 Large rectangular containers (baking dishes)
Liquid laundry starch
Small containers (to dilute paint)
Acrylic paint in desired colours
Brushes; White bond paper
Pour starch 2" deep into 1 container.
Fill other container with cool water
In small containers, dilute each paint colour until it just barely drips from
a brush.
Gently allow paint to drop from ends of brushes onto surface of starch until
the surface of the starch is nearly covered. (Depends on coverage you want)
Create a pattern by dragging a comb, made by inserting plastic picks into a
block of foam, or similar tool through the paint for wavy lines.
Arched effect: comb paint in one direction and then in the perpendicular
direction.
Pebble pattern: leave paint drops as they are.
Feather pattern: use ice pick to make parallel lines back and forth through
paint, alternating direction.
Starburst pattern: use pick to gently pull points of paint outward from
round drops.
Swirl pattern: swirl ice pick in a circular motion through paint.
Hold piece of paper to be marbleized by opposite corners and bend it lightly
so it sags slightly in the centre. Lay it gently atop paint, but do not
allow it to sink below the surface. Immediately lift paper back out of
starch. Holding paper over tub, allow it to drip for abt 10 seconds.
Rince paper in water dish. Lift paper out of water and allow it to drip of
abt 15 seconds. When most of water has dripped off, lay it flat on a
paper-towel-covered work surface to dry.
Additional paint can be added for next paper if desired.
To change colours skim paint off top of starch with newspaper strips.
Hope this helps.
Donna
P.S. To get the tubes of oil paint that you have to the right consistency
hey
will have to be mixed with turpentine or paint thinner. Can you return the
oil paint and get bottles of acrylic paint. It should be a paint that is
heavily pigmented. eg: Delta, DecoArt, Aleene's, and there are some others.
I don't think you will get the coverage needed with Folk Art or Apple Barrel
though.
