Hi Dot,
> DeFuniak is about 3.5 hours from Camilla.
So that's about 4.5 hours from me. I'd thought about trying to meet you half
way if you could travel, else I'd come on into DeFuniak Springs to see you.
I'm trying to clean out some of the "good stuff" (clutter to others) and I
have a grocery sack half filled with quilting magazines, that I got while
working at Hancocks. We go the discarded magazines and I pulled all the
quilting ones for an aunt in KY but I don't know when I'll get them there to
her, and I think that she has had to stop because of arthritis, and I thought
of
you, when I read your note about a quilt magazine someone had sent to you.
These are magazines from Jun 1994 to Jul 1996, are you interested?
> My daughter lives on Ruben

Doesn't sound familiar, but I notice the phone is a Sylvester # so it's not
long distance.
> She is starting to embroider a little but that is the extent of her
crafting. Did they close that
At least she is starting, slowly but it'll take hold. My daughter was the
same way. Now she does X-stitch, Some RS and when I was visiting with her
last month, I showed her how to make some topiaries.
> Did they close that Piece Goods Store over in the Wal-Mart plaza in
bany?
Piece Goods moved into where Hancocks was about Dec 1996, (DUMB MOVE on their
part) and yes they did close. Bankrupcy finally caught up with them.
AIN!!
> I'm hoping to go through surgery some time in Oct or Nov
For your leg? Hope all goes well for you.
> and hopefully make it up to GA sometime in Dec. I don't know for sure
hat
> type of shape I'll be in though so I can't promise anything.
No problem. We can wait and see
> My snail mail is
I had it here somewhere in all this paper that has accumulated. Have now got
something to sort it with, but, have to find the time to do the
sorting............ ;-). Figured it was easier to ask again.
> I still have the paper with your name and phone number for when I get up
> that way. It would be so nice to meet someone from the echo and be able

Nice to be able to put faces with names. Pat Knox was within 40 miles of me
when she went to FL down I-75. We could have met in Tifton, GA.
> What have your endeavors been recently?
Not a whole lot. I did participate in the RS card exchange recently, and
enjoyed that. Got some really nice cards, and different techniques.
I've really got to do some serious organizing. There are supplies I KNOW are
here...............somewhere!
> I'm still doing blocks
I see that. Also that you got a lot of blocks back from other exchanges
because they were hand stitched. The only reason I can think of is that all
the others may be machine sewn and machine quilted, and there would be a big
difference if yours is the only completely hand stitched one.
> and I'm going to try and get into Pergamano and RS'ing.
I want to do Pergamano also. Will be getting the supplies from Julia when I
can. Her prices were pretty good and she has ALL the supplies available.
Lost my job beginning of Aug, so have to be careful for a while.
> Do they have rs'ing places up there.
Not just for RS. Old America and Cloth World/Joanns carry some things, but
not
everything that is needed.
> Here it is not popular. We had a shop in Shalimar
> that I use to pass all the time. I tried calling them the other day but

> drawing board and mail order catalogs.
I really don't know about the popularity of it here because I'm not out that
much. I know that there was a Stampin' Up rep at a craft show here last Nov
but I don't know where she lived.
Went to a Craft show in Colummbus last year and there were several booths
there. One in particular had absolutely beautiful stamps. I did quite a bit
of damage, over $100.00.
> Will chat soon.
I found out Wed that I will have to fly to Newport, RI to drive my mother
back home from my sister's. "Something" has put her down and she can't
drive back by herself. She's seeing the Dr. and we hope she'll be up to the
trip by then. It's usually a three day trip with 2 nights in a motel, but it
may take longer, depending on how easily she tires. Of course, I will be
doing all the driving, but she'll need to navigate if possible. She's been
making the trip there and back since she moved in with me in 1988. Mother
turned 76 years in June and this is the first time I have ever heard her
sound anywhere close to being "old" or older than she is.
I'll leave GA on 28 Sep and we'll leave Newport on Mon, 29 Sep and hope to be
back within the week.
Have made arrangements to have a cell phone with me. Neither my sister or I
would make the trip without having one with us this time.
Take care,
Donna
