Thanks for the suggestion.  As for the motherboard, it's an Asus A7V266E
motherboard that I have not recently performed any BIOS upgrades on.

Sorry, I can't bring myself to actually use a MS product to remove spyware,
given their already proven-poor track record for security.

The computer has SP2 on it.  I'll check the mobo drivers too.
