Though it is for written English, the spoken part of it comes 
into play.  But, it is not as easy to demonstrate with the 
standard spellings.  

A purposeful misspelling can be used at times, though.  

I needed an example and found one!   'Sugar'  

Though it looks like   "suh-gar", it is pronounced "shoog-ar".
