BJ> I have read how wonderfully the initial Rockwell chipsets interoperate
BJ> with the Lucent servers (as in not at all).
That's because the initial 56k Rockwell chipsets were K56Plus, produced
before Open Forum agreement (principally RockwellLucent in the
marketplace) was reached. K56Plus will however interoperate with Ascend
and Cisco servers, no doubt others. Just not as well (because the
technology is developing) as K56flex ver.5* series, and certainly not as
well as ver1.* series. Zoom did not bring to the distribution channel
any K56Plus product.
BJ> And exactly when has K56Flex demonstrated this ability to provide
BJ> 56kbps download speed (or even *match* x2's 53.3kbps)? The answer is
BJ> in the laboratory or in theory, but not in the real world.
It is admitted _fact_ that x2 will not go faster in US/Canada than 53k3
initial connect speed. And most recent reports are that the latest .sdl
of x2 just ups initial indicated line connect rate, and immediately
thereafter falls back. I-Modems of course don't suffer from this, as their
connect speed reports are faulty to begin with
I've not seen any 53k3 reports at all in UK, despite our much
applauded higher quality lines (actually higher quality digital lines
which often exceed intra-London local call routes, therefor not chargeable
at a local call rate)
How wise ZyXel were to select K56flex for their v.pcm implimentation!
 BJ> It seems everyone's gullible
BJ> to Rockwell and Lucent hype, but real world experience indicates
 BJ> they're simply blowing smoke.
Your disinformation in the modem echoes is catching up with you.
Now it's time for you to panic, as all your postings are a matter of
public record. Did you pay retail for your I-Modem and ISDN line charges?
I think we should be told
