Your sentiment about the games scenario is appreciated. I too hold the
same resentment. However, at where I work, the new versions of MS Word
and Excel doesn't work the same without Win95. Also, using Win95 has
definitely shown a noticeable change in how fast these programs, as well
as others run while using Win95, in comparison to Win3.xx.

Maybe for you and I it isn't cumbersome, but we can't speak for all.
Personally, I found it to be quite annoying using my obviously slower
system at home, in comparison to the speedier one at work. Especially
when all it needed to kick up the RPM's was to install Win95. I was
notably surprised to say the least.
I'm sure my comments may draw some feedback resulting in pro's and con's
vs. the speed. However, in my, and my other co-workers opinions, we have
noted a difference. (Mind you, CPU, RAM, ect. is the same as at work. Not
brand names per se, but performance wise yes. Pentium, 32MB RAM ect).
AA> Regarding using a system a home, I wouldn't base my selection on what
 AA> is used at work.
Again, with hardware, brand name differences I can see. Internally though,
I can't see much difference. Matter of fact, I know people who have better
internal components at home than they do at work, and still noticed the
difference that programs ran faster after they installed Win95.

Oh I don't know about that last statement. This is rapidly becoming very
much commonplace today. I don't personally advocate the practice, however,
it is prevalent. I personally worked for a place briefly while I was laid
off from my other employer, and they EXPECTED you to work at home if you
were to call in sick for instance.
I'd be required to log onto the company system from home. My boss would
notify me which reports needed to be done, I'd retrieve them via download,
complete them, and resubmit them via upload for printing. Then, I'd e-mail
the secretary, and she'd pick up the reports, and distribute them.
Naturally, that place is no longer my place of employment. ;) You see,
their thinking was, if you're a salary employee, and since they are paying
you whether your there or not, (unlike an hourly paid employee), they
considered it...EXPECTED of their salary employees. :'(
You'd be surprised how many other companies are following this lead! Even
the place I'm currently with now, (a major corporation), they encourage
their upper management employees to work from home via "PC Anywhere."
They log on to their personal terminal, retrieve and answer e-mail, and
continue working right there at their terminal accessed from their home.
 Sincerely,
 Michael Sharon
