That's because you are within your "home" folder
/home/pi

Why would you expect the ls command to list files that are not in the
current folder, unless you specify an absolute path?
you could
cd /
ls
or you could
ls /

Trying not to sound condescending, we all had to start somewhere, but I
think for your various issues it would help you to brush up your general
linux and bash knowledge, making it easier to help you ...
