I have a carry box to take my budgie Pigwidgeon to the vet, about
12"x8"x8". I recently used the box as a transport when we drove to my
mother's house in New England. I bought clear plastic styrene blanks
(used for glasspainting crafts and purchased at Michael's craft stores)
and cut them to fit the cage wire parts of the carry box and taped them
on (in case I had to rip them off in case of an emergency) with plain
old wide-width Scotch tape. This was in combination with his flannel
cage cover, folded to fit around the box. I also purchased one of those
small thermometers you can attach to the zipper of a ski jacket and
placed it in the cage. In the end, I had a harder time keeping "Pidge"
cool than keeping him warm; those styrene blanks kept his body heat in
really well.
