I was of the opinion that G wanted to become a more fully-rounded
wrestler in his WCW days, but was pigeon-holed by the PTB.

And they seem to have forgotten Basic Booking 101 in the last few years
as well.

Actually, I have to agree with No One here. G is being paid BIG money
and did get bumped up into one of the Main Events at WM. That the
writers flailed about for a feud after WM is pretty obvious, as is their
terrible portrayal of G since he's been in the WWE, at least judging by
ratings where G is concerned, buy rates, and the fans' starting to turn
on him during matches.
FWIW, WWE had a very similar problem with their need to book the
WWE/Alliance war with the Alliance looking so weak from the outset.

And became one of the biggest names in the sport. A program where G
goes through the midcard could work, IMHO, if it's pointed out that G
has to work his way up and is doing so with the RAW version of the WWE
Title always being his goal. They're not doing that.

This is a good point for what I think No One is saying. Why does the
WWE feel it SO very necessary to do G THEIR WAY from the outset instead
of booking him as he was in WCW for a short time and then bring in
changes little by little? Especially as "their way" hasn't seemed too
popular? Do they think if fans get hit over the head with it enough
that they'll give in and enjoy it?

I think it's been clear for the last few years that those currently
writing for the WWE are in way over their heads and don't really know
what they're supposed to be doing.

Actually, I think they are interested in Sting. But I also think he's
the last person who, as a "WCW name", is about it as far as their
interest goes.

If those writers don't understand the product, the people who view that
product, and what they're supposed to do, then, yeah, it's not the best
idea.
