subject: interface is _serial_

Hi Roy (of 1:270/615),
On , in a message to Greg Mayman you wrote:

I have a semi-retired SMITH-CORONA electric typewriter that features a
serial port. At the time, circa 1985, I bought it specifically for the
option to "automate" printing from a computer (at which time an
x86 or x88 was a big bucks). Well.. never got around to programming the
serial port for it. The typewriter has other redeeming features though.

It just boggles the mind when I think about how much computer tech and
interfaces have changed over the recent years - and how much money I've
poured into keeping up with the stuff.
