I have always turned indexing off and before that MS Office Find Fast on
Win98, but I'm sensitive to these things and tend to use trailing edge
hardware and use it longer than most so I'd probably notice the slowdown
and not like it.

Yes the full blown video and sound DRM degradation features etc. are a real problem.

I tend to run older software, Sidekick 98, MS Office 2000, Ecco Pro 4.01,
and a couple of ancient DOS apps. I need my software more than I need
Vista. I don't know if any of these programs would have issues on Vista.
