>>I DO THINK HE BET ON THE MLB, BUT THE PUNISHMENT FOR HIS CRIME WAS
>>EXTREME.
As it should have been. What if ol Pete was really in the hole, Bob?
What if the temptation to get out of the hole was too great to resist?
Gamblers are typically weak willed, anyway. What if betting AGAINST the
Reds in ooooonnnneee little contest would have put him in high cotton?
What if he placed the bet, and managed poorly that day? Heck, he could
have a bad day, couldn't he? What if it worked, and he got out of hock?
What if he thought to himself, "Once more, and I can be AHEAD of the
game? Etc., etc.
There is _no_ place for gambling in the sport if you are a participant,
Bob. He got what he deserved. I personally think that one day Rose will
be in the HOF. But, isn't it a shame that he will be remembered more for
those years he did not get in, than for the years in which he performed
the way he did? Pity.
DOC GOODEN WASN'T FORCED OUT 4 LIFE FOR DOING DRUGS,
Nor was Steve Howe, nor will the most recent druggie who was caught,
Tony Phillips. Tha's not good, and almost everyone agrees that something
should be done. But that a'int the facts the way they are today, Bob.
YET IF
>>YOU BET ON A GAME, YOUR GONE!
As it should be.
I PERSONALLY THINK IT IS OUTRAGOUS AND A
>>DISGRACE THAT PETE ROSE IS NOT IN THE HALL OF FAME.
Probably, but he brought it on himself. And has noone else to blame.
HE WAS A REMARKABLE
>>BALL PLAYER AND DESERVES TO GET WHAT HE EARNED
He got what he earned. His actions got him what he deserved. He knew the
ramifications of what he was doing when he did it.
And, Bob. Why do you post in all CAPS?
