-=> Quoting Steven Horn to Jim Weller <=- JW> L'Heritage is rated 2 stars in Ann Hardy and its wine cellar was JW> awarded an award of merit by Wine Spectator. The owner was on a JW> Canadian Culinary Olympic Team that took several golds a few years JW> ago. It can compete with the best that Vancouver or Calgary has to JW> offer. SH> I should have gotten there.:-( How are the prices? A trifle more than a comparable place in Montreal or Ottawa. Appetizer courses in the $15-20 range, the most expensive being a superb duck foie gras with an onion marmalade for $25. Main courses in the $32 to $40 range with selections like elk roulades stuffed with cranberries and pecans. They do a lot of northern country meats like char, pickerel, bison, muskox and caribou using classic French methods, with liberal use of fresh herbs (the chef has an amazing garden of his own and a good air connection to some wonderful southern suppliers.) The wine cellar is outstanding and runs the gamut from some obscure and cheap but tasty Chilean and Spanish reds to some of the great Bordeaux. Cheers, Jim ...
