I don't know the age answer, but have you read anything by Dr. Irene
Pepperberg regarding "modeling" as a method of teaching word/object
relationships? It takes one bird, one teacher and one human student to
create the classroom. The teacher teaches and rewards the human student,
giving the bird the chance to answer correctly and be rewarded as well. It
must work because her CAG, Alex, is one smart cookie.
