ml> one method is mathematical... ie: 1993 - 1900 = two digit date
ml> of 93
oops, forgot to add...
2003 - 1900 = bad year number of 103 and many of us have seen that one...
its one of the date problems in bluewave and many fidonet message
manipulation software...
it should'nt have been a subtract but a MODulus (aka clock arithmetic)...
ie: using a clock and 24hour formatted time...
0245 MOD 1200 = 0245 (2:45 in the morning)
1445 MOD 1200 = 0245 (2:45 in the afternoon)
so, to work with four digit years and extract the last two characters, one
only need to use MOD 100...
1993 MOD 100 = 93
1999 MOD 100 = 99
2000 MOD 100 = 0 (0 < 10 so prepend a 0 == 00)
2003 MOD 100 = 3 (3 < 10 so prepend a 0 == 03)
2020 MOD 100 = 20
2100 MOD 100 = 0 (0 < 10 so prepend a 0 == 00)
2103 MOD 100 = 3 (3 < 10 so prepend a 0 == 03)
2120 MOD 100 = 20
choosing the proper mathematical method is the key...
