It's intended to migrate user data and settings not applications. =
Even then, if applications violate the guidelines for where to store =
per-user data that have been around for many years now, it may miss =
something. You can override this and copy more but you have to know =
where the apps are storing data if outside the per-user areas.

not required. It's just one of four ways to transfer between computers. =
