-> Does it exist a better program then Sonic MyDVD to make DVD from VHS? I use the My DVD some times it came with my Sony DRU500AX drive. I also have Pinnacle Impression, as a part of my Pinnacle DV500 and Premier editing system. I have burnt DVDs using Nero Burning ROM 5.5 and that gets it on the disk, if your not into fancy menus. I'm waiting the delivery of Pinnacles Edition NLE editor to try that out. It is supposed to have a built in DVD program. Premier ver 7 isn't going to be supported in the DV500 by Pinnacle, and all this software is just going a little nuts now. Interesting aside, Adobe is dropping the MAC support for the new Premier too. That was kind of a shock. From this part of the world, I've decided the do-nothing approach seems the best for a while. What I use now is entirely satisfactory, and I have no ego need to be the first kid on the block with the latest and greatest. The future has to many changes coming here in the states to get very excited about any one facet. The cameras are now using three 1/2 inch ccd's to capture, and we are being given a choice of the old standard NTSC 720x480, or 720p, or 1080i, or 1080p, switch selected on one camera just to get the stuff on tape. Then the new computer editing packages for NLE that say they are HD ready, are really rather crude so far. That also bears waiting a bit longer. Then the computers to be used for this stuff is another thing, how long until Intel and Microsoft have gotten sufficient earnings out of the old 32 bit processors they are selling today. A windows 64 bit version is in testing for the Intel A64 now, so will we soon be dumping our 32 bit Pentiums as fast as we did our 286's when the 386's came on-line. Video editing is easily done on CPU right now. Computers like mine using hardware chips and processors to render are growing very long in the teeth. I see a gigantic change coming soon. Only now, we are seeing bits and pieces. The reason to hold off is the pieces we buy today might not fit together with the bits we want to buy tomorrow.
