-=>I distinctly overheard Donna Lewis say to Wanda Guin<=-
Donna,
DL> Haven't seen anything on orange slices. The ones in the store look
DL> like they have clear acrylic type coating on them.
I did dry some orange slices, and they turned out well. I just started
drying some lemon slices! I think they will do well too.
WG > Are the apple slices suppossed to stay curled up? I dried some a while
DL> Most that I have ever seen are flat. Maybe they curled because they
DL> dried too fast, or maybe they need to have a piece of screen over them
DL> to keep them from curling. In a dehydrator they wouldn't be able to
DL> curl because the trays aren't deep enough.
I don't have a dehydrator; I just lay them out on cardboard, and turn
them once or twice a day.
DL> Remember, you can get 3 shapes from the apples. Cut side to side, you
DL> get a circle. Cut top to bottom, you can get some oval and heart
DL> shapes.
Hey, I forgot about that! I just bought some apples, too...the ones I
dried before were just cut side to side. I have some pears that are
really crunchy, I may try one...
take care,
Wanda
... Suddenly a thought hit me, knocking me senseless.....
