o   IF you are not sure, please use Routed Netmail and send the question 
    to the Moderator.  Only the Moderator may declare something ON or OFF 
    TOPIC or grant exceptions to the Rules.

o   NO obscene language or swearing in any language, flaming, character
    assassination, racial slurrs, cultural or religious intolerance
    allowed.!  Make sense ???   etc.

o   Don't be easily annoyed and don't be excessively annoying!
    This is a non-political information feed.

o   Please do not answer OFF TOPIC messages and Never use the echo 
    to reply to inappropriate messages.
    If you feel a message is inappropriate, simply take a deep breath and 
    ignore it.  It'll go away.  And if it doesn't, LET THE MODERATOR 
    HANDLE THE PROBLEM.  
    If you respond over the echo, many Sysops will incur financial 
    expense for your violation.  If you feel particularly strong about a 
    specific posting, YOU assume financial responsibility by sending the 
    Moderator private netmail, or by taking your beef off-echo and send 
    Routed NetMail to the person directly.  Please leave the other 
    participants out of it, especially the Sysops who foot the bills.

o   If a TOPIC COP is necessary leave it to the Moderator
    or the Assistants.

o   Practice Tollerance with those who do not know or ask what seem to
    be "dumb" questions.  The whole purpose of Space Base is to
    educate through information exchange.

o   Avoid entering private or local-interest messages --
    Messages which cannot interest other conference participants are
    inappropriate and should be sent via NetMail.  Contact your SysOp
    (in the General Msg Area or a special area for messages to/from the 
    SysOp, not in this Echo) for information on that board's NetMail policy.

o   Do not initiate any commercial advertisements or BBS ads --
    Such postings are inappropriate.  Note, however, that this does not 
    forbid messages about specific products, services, or BBS phone 
    numbers in direct response to request for information.

o   Keep your quotes to a minimum.  People read this echo regularly;
    you don't always need to quote and explain the obvious.

o   If you have a complaint or comment regarding the running of the echo, 
    please use Routed Netmail and do not go OFF TOPIC in the echo.
    Compliments are alway welcome!

o   Leave Moderating to the Moderator.  Arguing with the Moderator
    or arguing any Moderator ruling is grounds for cutting of feed.

o   Only one warning may be given.

o   Serious infractions may have their feed cut without warning.

o   COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL:  The posting of copyrighted material without 
    the express permission of the copyright holder may violate any 
    "fair-use" doctrine.  
         Quoting a passage is acceptable, especially if other sources 
    are quoted as well.  (That's research.).  Posting a single article 
    verbatim without permission is not acceptable. (That creeps into 
    the realm of plagiarism.)  
         Any notice that it has been posted without permission doesn't 
    protect any BBS carrying this echo from possible prosecution.  
         Sysops, if you feel uncomfortable about messages containing 
    copyrighted material, it is acceptable to delete them from your 
    board.  On occasion, the Moderator will place long distance calls 
    to the copyright holder to verify permission.
