   What happens according to those who have tried it, when a JHP is fired 
thru heavy clothing a couple of things can happen.  
 
   One is it punches a small piece of material that fills the cavity in the 
nose of the bullet. Once the bullet gets to the flesh, there is no cavity 
to make it expand, it acts like an FMJ and goes deep. 
 
   The other is it starts to expand as soon as it hits and gives poor 
penetration. Leather jackets are the worst for this. This is why he loads 
FMJ in the winter. He works WAY up north where the folks really bundle up.
