What happens according to those who have tried it, when a JHP is fired
thru heavy clothing a couple of things can happen.
One is it punches a small piece of material that fills the cavity in the
nose of the bullet. Once the bullet gets to the flesh, there is no cavity
to make it expand, it acts like an FMJ and goes deep.
The other is it starts to expand as soon as it hits and gives poor
penetration. Leather jackets are the worst for this. This is why he loads
FMJ in the winter. He works WAY up north where the folks really bundle up.
