| subject: | MsgEd Macros |
A few years back, prolly MANY years back as I think it was before the
SQUISHED version of MsgEd was out, folks exchanged MsgEd Macros in this
echo. There were some fairly elaborate ones, as I recall one fella even
found a way to call a spell checker inside MsgEd.
Anyhoo, here's one that was posted way back when that I slightly modified
to suit my needs:
function 1 ^m\0x48\0x4d\0x4d\0x4d^m\0x53\0x48\0x1e\0x4f\0x1e\0x2e
\0x4f\0x19\0 x50\0x53\0x4f\0x19\0x50\0x53\0x47^m^m\0x48\0x48
Naturally all that has to be on one line with no spaces. It breaks a quoted
line of text at any point in the line, inserts blank space for reply, and
then resumes the quoted text with the appropriate prefix characters.
An example may explain better. Assume the following quoted text:
AB> This is quoted text. The macro will be invoked at the period following the
AB> word "text" in the last sentence. Normally you would enter
a carriage
AB> return but then have to add the prefix quote characters.
AB> This is quoted text.
AB> The macro will be invoked at the period following the
AB> word "text" in the last sentence. Normally you would enter
a carriage
AB> return but then have to add the prefix quote characters.
NOTE: This *ONLY* works when you are quoting a message. For some reason
unknown to me, it did not work as I was ENTERING this message. For some
reason, when entering (rather than quoting, it does this:
==========================================================================
B>
AB
This is quoted text.
The macro will be invoked at the period following the
AB> word "text" in the last sentence. Normally you would enter
a carriage
AB> return but then have to add the prefix quote characters.
==========================================================================
Any idea WHY? It works great when quoting an already existing message.
I often have to move messages from one area to another (I hope to find a
way to use NetMgr to do this automagically soon). This macro moves the
current messsage to my CNet area in one keystroke (normally this takes at
least four keystrokes):
function 9 \0x32MCNet^m
