I can call myself a bi**h because I am, (when sufficently provoked!), so
why can't I call myself an FTB?  Am I like that wild-eyed leader of the
HG cult?  H3|| NO!  But if having the _opinion_ that "they are visiting
us" makes me an FTB, then I guess I am one.  But then I know and have
known a number of people personally who claim to have been contactees/
abductees, including "JP" who tells the most convincing story of not
only being abducted and contacted off and on since his teens, but also
tells of being raped by an ET when he was in his teens, and a
half-human/half-ET daughter, who now lives in space being the result of
that rape, who visits him occasionally.  His sister has independantly
verified to me seeing him entering a UFO when they were school kids.  His
whole family have been contactees for at least two generations.  A most
facinating fellow indeed!  Then there's JM, who tells of some "very
interesting" ET contacts while he was in the USAF.  (I can understand why
he is a bit on the paranoid side).  These are but two of a dozen or so
personal friends I have known in over half a century who have such tales
to tell, though they do NOT "advertise" these stories to everyone they
meet - they are afraid of being labeled as Kooks.  So they have nothing
to gain from their stories, since they aren't about to write a book or
otherwise go public.  As I say, they are/have been personally known to
me, and are not the type to spin yarns.  I believe their stories, though
you probably wouldn't, even if you had known them as I have.  I started
out as an open-minded curious person, was fortunate enough to have met
these people among my personal acquaintences, listened to their stories,
and judged what they told me on the basis of knowing their individual
personalities.  But am I going to try to hitch a ride on the next comet
that comes by? GET REAL!

There are other possabilities: _IF_ a giant meteor were headed our way
and the ET's know about it, if they have the technology to travel light
years to get here, wouldn't they have the technology to deflect that big
rock enough to make it miss us?  Methinks they probably would.  No, I'm
afraid that we, as a civilization, are in danger, but I don't feel that
the greatest danger is from space.  I feel that there are two major
threats to civilization on this planet at this point in history:
 
1) Poleshift.  Science has proven that the axis, (magnetic if not spin),
   of this planet has shifted many times in the past, and we are about
   due again.  There are several theories about what will happen when
   this occurs - none of them particularly plesant.  One of the biggies
   is that the whole planet will rotate so that the new North pole will
   be somewhere in/near the Indian Ocean.  (Want a discussion of how and
   why this could happen?)  As predicted in the Bible and by hundreds of
   psychics over the years - famous and obscure - earthquakes, volcanic
   eruptions and other natural disasters are on the increase along with
   more and more weather anomolies.  Example: The worst El Nino in
   history triggering two of the strongest Pacific hurricanes in recorded
   history, one of which produced the highest wind ever recorded on the
   planet and practically reducing Guam to a clean piece of rock.  The
   list goes on.  Even the Sun is getting into the act, with CMEs
   knocking out communication satelites.  We are definately in a time
   of change, both social and environmental, and we haven't seen the end
   of it yet.  Will poleshift - assuming it is imminant - happen within
   the lifetime of people alive today?  The accepted theory is that the
   first thing that happens is that the strength of the Earth's magnetic
   field drops from it's previous strength to zero before reversing or at
   leas shifting.  Fact: The strength of the field HAS been dropping
   rapidly since around the 1940's, and is now less than 10% of what it
   was then.  Is this the precursor to poleshift?  Perhaps.
 
2) Ourselves.  With the state of world affairs, and leaders like Saddam,
   with the weapons of mass destruction which he either has or is trying
   to develop, he and other madmen would just love to take over the world
   and remold it in their image, disaster is a real possability.  Add to
   that the conditions in our streets - when teenagers shoot other
   teenagers to get their fancy jackets or shoes, innocent bystanders
   getting shot in their homes because of a drug deal gone bad in the
   street... we may not have to wait for Saddam and his ilk to give us
   some exotic disease to kill us off - we may do it to ourselves.  AND
   don't forget more and more mysterious diseases showing up, from AIDS
   over a decade ago to to Ebola to who-knows-what.  There is a new
   flu-like disease which has hospitals in California running at full
   capacity - they are forced to turn away new patients because there
   isn't a bed to be found... and people are dying from this new
   affliction!  Are these symptoms of the plagues spoken of in
   Revelations?  And we are poisoning the ecology with everything from
   releasing toxic chemicals to burning the rain forests: the lungs of
   the planet.  Do we need the help of someone wiser than ourselves to
   survive?  Quite possible.  "We have met the enemy and he is us."
 
We are NOT living in a safe world today - and it will get worse before it
gets better... if it doe.s  Hopefully it will get better while we are
still alive to enjoy it.
 
However _IF_ we can manage - with or without "outside help" - to survive
and solve our social problems, (local and international), then we MAY
be invited to join "The Federation of Planets," (if such exists).  Again,
this is ASSUMING that we are being visited by "someone" from "Out there."
And if we aren't, we just may be in the proverbial deep doodoo.
